Kendyl's Go Texan Day

Kendyl had Go Texan Day at school, so I headed out to Cavendar's Boot City to make sure she had all the proper princess cowgirl attire. I was so excited about this day for her, that I went crazy shopping and bought a ton of stuff just to make sure she had something that 1) fit her, and 2) that she liked, which is becoming increasingly hard to do these days. So, 4 pairs of cowboy boots, 5 shirts, and 2 cowboy hats later, we had our outfit picked out and ready to go (I returned all of the unwanted stuff later).

Of course, I bought an outfit for Kamryn too, but she didn't want to cooperate for the picture.

On a side note and to justify number 2 above, Kendyl has become such a little fashion queen lately, that I cant even get dressed in the morning without her approval of what I am wearing to work. If she doesn't like it, then I have to change clothes until I wear something that she approves of. She will actually tell me, "mommy, I don't like that shirt," and I will have to find another one. On top of that, she has chosen Wednesdays to be the dress / skirt day for all three of the Burgess girls. I, for one, do not typically like wearing dresses, but I will do it for my little girl...so every Wednesday, I wear a skirt or a dress to work...even in the freezing cold weather.

Back to the original reason for this post, Go Texan Day... Kendyl's school goes all out for this day, and they even have "pony" rides for the kids. Kendyl kept telling me that they get to ride a pony at school, so I was pretty excited for her. I was able to leave work just in the nick of time to arrive and watch her ride her so-called "pony" at school. When I arrived, I saw my baby girl, climbing aboard this...

A full blown, huge horse named Star. This is no pony, and no one even walked beside her while she rode this huge horse. She was so proud of herself though, and happy that her horse was pink...(he had a pink bridle, but she called the horse pink).

I guess she was a little tired out from that "pony" ride!

The long awaited Birthday Party pics!

The Birthday Girl!

Pretty Princess on her gift table

First off....on my last post I wished our baby girl a happy first birthday and I promised to post some pictures from her party and of her eating her first birthday cake. Well, we have been pretty busy since her party, so I am just now able to get around to posting a few pictures. The party was great, the weather was not. It was very cold and rainy the day of her party, but we all still had a great time indoors opening presents, eating, and visiting with many friends and family. Grandma and Grandpa were not able to make it down here from Virginia because Grandma was very sick with Shingles...we were all very disappointed and missed them very much!! We hope they get to come soon, and we may have to have some more cake while they are here to catch up on the celebration. Kamryn absolutely loved her cake that mommy made, she ate every single bite of that cake and icing and she even wanted more of it. Here are a few pictures of her big day.
Sporting her "It's a Happy Day" T-Shirt

This was her very first birthday cake. I decided to make her cake myself and I also did it for Kendyl when she turned 1 year old. It took me longer than I thought it would, but I think it turned out pretty well.

She loved opening her presents...her expressions were priceless and they were different for every gift that she opened.

Now for the cake eating.....enjoy!

What is this stuff?

Pretty good....

How much can I fit into my mouth?

YUMMY!!!

All Done!

Happy 1st Birthday baby Kamryn!!

Well today is the big day! Kamryn turns 1 today, and it is a day filled with happiness and sadness at the same time. I am only sad because I cant believe my little baby is 1...where has the past year gone? I realized the other day that we are no where near prepared for her being 1. She is not used to a sippee cup yet, isn't really eating a lot of solids, doesn't sleep through the night, but she is walking everywhere, climbing everywhere, throwing temper tantrums which are really cute, and able to give the biggest, cheesiest grin I have ever seen when she knows she did something wrong or wants something. I think some of the things mentioned are my fault, I haven't exactly pushed her to a sippee since I still love to hold her and feed her a bottle, and at this point she still lets us do so. I know I still have it in my head that she is around 6 or 9 months old, not 1 year!! Time has just really flown by with this little one, what a busy year it has been. Anyway, the big party for her is tomorrow and I will be sure to post some more pics and stories then, especially after she eats her first piece of birthday cake!

Can twins be born 2 1/2 years apart??

I just thought I would share a few pics of the girls when they were the same age to show just how much they look alike. I took both pictures with my cell phone at lunch as I was visiting them at daycare like I did every day when they were both babies.

New at this.....

So, this is a first for me. I have read enough blogs that I should be an expert, so I will give this a shot and see how it is. Have patience though, I will try to keep this updated as we move along in our way too busy lives. I am currently at work, and should probably be working instead of setting up a new blog, but I decided I needed a break and the system is currently down anyway, so there isnt much for me to do. So here goes, let me get started on setting this thing up.
